Should environmental and socioeconomic factors influence decision making on new energy projects?
It is clear that both environment and community are affected by Energy Projects yet right now that are not considered by the Public Utilities Commission when they are asked to make a decision on a project.
Right now the NH Public Utilities Commission (PUC) only considers financial cost when making decisions about new energy infrastructure projects. This week the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee will discuss a bill (SB73) which would require the PUC to consider socioeconomic and environmental impacts, in addition to cost, when making permitting decisions. Please send a letter urging our legislators to support SB73
